This weekend, I had a volleyball tournament in Indiana! I left Friday after school to go up to the hotel. When i first got to the hotel, it was only me and Bailey. Before Bailey came, i was up in my room, all alone, watching Criminal Minds. All of a sounded, I heard knocking on the door. At first I thought it was my parents, but when I went to the door no one was there. Then I heard knocking again, and this time I herad a mans voice say "Open to door, or I'll break in!" I started fricking out!!! So i dialed 911, and had my finger on the call button, when the person called out "It's me! Bailey!" I was so mad at her! After we hung in my room for a while, we went out to dinner! That was tons of fun, because we went out to the pond and feed ducks my potato! Though the ducks started to hiss at us, so we ran away!
The next day, our team and I went to Walmart to spare time before going to the gym for our games. At Walmart, Mackenzie and I bought a Eore (from Whinny the Pooh!) I named mine Peekay, and she named her Peepay! Then after Walmart we went to the gym for out turnament. We won all of our games that day, so we ended the day in the running for gold! The next day was the same again! We won all our game and won gold! We were happy because the tournament was 14 division and we are 13s! So we all got a metal and our team got a plack!

13 Union Garvey&13 Blue V.S 13 Red
This weekend I had a Bluegrass Qualifier tournament. This tournament decided if my team got to go to Atlanta during the summer for a big tournament. But to go, we had to play two teams. The first team we had to play was 13 Union Garvey. The second team we had to play was 13 Blue (the team ranked one level higher than my team.)
While warming up to play Union, Bailey and I's stomach started hurting really bad. Bailey felt like she was about to throw up, and mine just hurt. Our coach gave us some medicine to try and make our stomach fell better, but Bailey's stomach still hurt after taking it. But mine felt fine afterward. When the first game started we were kind of shocked at how good Union was, because we played them before earlier in the season, and we didn't remember them being that good. Then our coach told us that Union wanted the bid to Atlanta really badly, so they combined Unions #2 and #1 team together so they were double as good. Our first game against them we struggled with passing so we lost. Then the second game we picked it up a lot, but they were just to good, and beat us.
After playing Union, we were really ready to play 13 Blue. We have played them before, and the won both times. So we were all ready to beat them. The 1st game we did really good. It was 7-1 in the first 5 minutes! Then Blue picked it up getting the score 10-20. My team was really mad they were winning so we picked it up, taking the game to 34-32. Sadly Blue won that game. So on the 2nd game, some of our passers just couldn't seem to pass it up, so we lost at 15-25. I was really upset (as so was everyone else on my team). I know, and many people even Blues parents, know that my team is really, really good, but for some reason, whenever we play Blue, we just freak out and don't play like we normally do.

Emma and I
On Friday, I went over to Emma’s house! She picked me up in the morning to go and eat breakfast at Wild Eggs! Wild Eggs is my favorite breakfast restraint! I always get their pancakes! Their pancakes are so big! They are like the size of my face! So I couldn’t eat the whole thing! Emma got some French toast kind of thing! I don’t know what it was called, but it looked really fancy! Mrs. Augyo also got a fancy breakfast platter! While eating we talked a lot about high school choices that was fun because I got to hear about different schools.
After eating we went to the mall. Emma and I first went to Sephora. We both love that place! They have so much makeup there! We spent tons of time looking at Sephora’s lipstick, eyeliner, and cover up! Emma bought some new eyeliner and lipstick, and I bought some cover up and lipstick! I felt fancy because it was Dior lipstick! I know its sounds weird, but I felt fancy!
Then we went to Bath and Body works! It was my first time back in Bath and Body Works because last year my friend and I got kicked out. My friend (Lexie) was going to spray the good smelling perfume. So she went to spray it, and it turned out it wasn’t perfume. It was some shampoo foam stuff. So she sprayed it everywhere. It got on the table, floor and on me and her. So the lady that worked there told us we could leave while she cleaned up! So I was very happy to go back! I love that store because it smells so good and happy in there! They had new lotion, so Emma and I smelled that! I didn’t like the orange kind, because it smelt like my grandmas. I bought 3 different lotions! I bought them and decided to let my mom pick the one she wanted for mother’s day!
Then Emma and I got some drinks from Star Bucks and sat down by the fountain. While sitting there we saw Lilly Brice and a relative of hers! It was fun to sit down and people watch! We saw many families with little kids that were all dressed alike! There was these three girls that were about 5 years old, and they all were dressed in pink dresses and had white bows in their hair! They looked really cute! We also saw some people that were dresses really weird. I won’t say what they looked like it was that bad!
After our break, we went to Von Muar. We went up on the top floor to look at the prom dresses. They had so many beautiful ones! While looking at the dresses we saw the one the Gillian (Annie’s older sister) bought! It was a really cute long tie- dye dress! Emma and I picked our favorite dress out. Mine was the green and white dress with one strap. Emma liked the black and gray dress that had sparkles on it! It looked super cute! While there I also bought some cute, but really big sun glasses!
After the mall, we went back to Emma’s house to eat lunch. We eat some Jimmy Johns sandwiches! Then we walked over to Graters for some ice cream. Walking there was tons of fun because me and Emma planned each other’s futures for each other! I told Emma that she would marry a doctor and live in a big yellow house and own lots of land and a pool. Also that she would invite me over to her house a lot when she was older, and we could lay by her pool and catch up on each other’s life’s! Once we got to Graters we got our ice cream than sat outside. We sat on the sidewalk right by the road and watched all the people in their cars. That was fun because we talked a lot and got to see all the weird people in the cars. One car that went by had two 60+ year old men. The two men honked at us and waved….I was slightly disturbed. Then we walked back to Emma’s house.
Once back at Emma’s, we hung outside. That was fun, until the fire ant army came and attacked us. So Emma and I tried to make a coke boundary to try and keep the ants out. That didn’t really work so well. Then after that, we went out for dinner at El Nepal. After that they dropped me off at home. It was a long super fun day!

Team Sleepover
Last weekend, I went over to my friend and team mate, Bailey’s house. She was hosting a team sleepover for all 10 girls to attend!
Before getting to Bailey’s house, I was very mad at my parents for running late! The party started at 4. But we didn’t leave till 4! I will admit that I too was a little slow, but they were really slow! I took a nap before going to Bailey’s house because I had gotten very little sleep the night before, and didn’t want to be tired for the party. After my parents woke me up, they said they were ready to leave. I had already packed all my stuff up so I was ready to go, but they just “had” to do some last minute things! Then once we were ready to go, we went to go out the garage door to our car, but there was the killer bee! This bee has been stalking us for the past 3 weeks! So I went through the front door to get to the car, but my parents just waited until the bee flew away! By the time we got to Bailey’s it was 4:30! UN COOL!
When I got there, all of us went and took a tour of Bailey’s house! I had already been there one before, but I didn’t mind looking around again! After we took the tour, all 9 of us (our team mate Olivia was going to get there later) decided to go out to Bailey’s back yard to her trampoline! It was tons of fun! All of us would sit on the trampoline while others did tricks! I was unskilled though, and could do nothing but roll across the surface of the trampoline! We all felt like rebels being on the trampoline and doing tricks, because if our coach was there she would have freaked out! After all of our teams history with being sick and injured, our coach has been super protective! When I got off the trampoline, I looked down at my feet and realized they were covered in black stuff! I started to freak out, when I noticed everyone else had them on their feet to, and that it was from the trampoline!
After playing in her yard, we went on a neighborhood scavenger hunt! We broke up into 3 teams. I had Bailey and Brenna on my team! Each team got a piece of paper that had items on it that we had to get. Things such as chip, string, marker, pony-tail, and other small things. Each item was a point, and if a team got someone to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” on our phone, that counted as 5 points! And we only had 30 minutes to do it! WE had to be back at 6:30, and for every minute we were late, we had 5 points taken off! It was tons of fun going to people homes! There were some very strange and funny people! We got one of Bailey’s neighbors to sing the song for us, and she did it in a country style, adding her own very interesting dance moves! We got 3 other people, plus her to sing the song, so that was a total of 20 points! We went to one girl’s house, and I think she was afraid we were going to beat her! She opened the door barely enough to see her, and she talked very quietly, and keep looking at us with scared eyes! She was only 5 though, so I guess I would understand her being scared when 3 crazy 13 year old come to her house asking for a toilet paper roll! We had everything on the list, counting 4 singers, and we only had 2 minutes to run back to Bailey’s house! So we had to run through have of the neighbor’s yards, to get to Bailey’s house on time! Luckily, we were the 2nd team there! Once everyone was there, we counted up our scores to see who won. MY TEAM WON! We had 44 points!!! Everyone else had only 20 or so points! Our prize for winning was a money balloon!
After the scavenger hunt, we eat pizza! Also Olivia showed up! That was fun because I hadn’t had Dominos pizza in forever! After dinner, we all got in our bathing suits and went into Bailey’s hot tub! It was really cool because the hot tub had changing lights and a built in radio! In the hot tub we played would you rather and truth or dare, and we also talked volleyball stuff. We talked about the teams we were going to play this weekend, and about other team players, and skill. Then Olivia and Brenna really wanted to go into the pool (which was 30 degrees!)! So we all jumped in the pool at the same time. IT WAS FREZZING COLD! The only bad part about going back into the hot tub was that it stung!!!!! But we got us to it!
After drying off and getting into our pajamas, we decided to watch a movie. While some of the team mates picked out a movie, Bernie, Olivia, Mackenzie and I, went up stairs to get some drinks. When we got upstairs, we saw that Mr. Smith was watching Night Mare on Elm Street! (One of my favorite movies!) So we sat down to watch the last 15 or so minutes. Brenna came up along with some other girls, and I told them not to scream at the end. They didn’t but I did! After calming back down, we went back down stairs to watch the Cat in the Hat. You could tell no one was really interested in watching it, because we were all on our phones, and on facebook looking at hot guy’s pictures! Then after the movie we were all pretty tired so we went to bed.
The next day we had cinnamon rolls for breakfast! They were really good! After eating we went outside and played hide and seek! It was really fun! Then we went (some people) went back into the pool! While in the pool we had Brenna teach us some water exersizes! It was super funny! I took a verdio of her teacheing it, once i got out of the pool!Though after we played for a long time, I had to go home with Bernie, Stephanie, and Mackenzie. I was really happy that Bailey had the party, and very sad to leave! But I didn’t stay sad for long, because we all were planning the end of the season sleepover party at my house!

A Few Good Men
This past Friday, I went and saw the play A Few Good Men, at Actors Theater. The play was put on in the Mex. The Mex is a black box theater room that is very small. This was my first time seeing a play with the actors up so close, so it was different for me. The play was directed by Rich Galey.
The theme of the play was that there was 2 US Marine Marshals arrested and accused of killing another US marshal. The two marshals were Dawson and Downey he man they were accused of killing Santiago. This play talks about how the lawyers and Army finds out if they really did kill Santiago.
There wasn’t really a main character in the play. Almost everyone had a big part. Surprisingly the 2 marine’s marshals didn’t have many lines, but when they did, it was very important to listen to what they were saying. But Lawyer Jo, and Lawyer Kaffee had very important part. They were Dawson’s and Downey’s lawyers. Both lawyers wanted to prove the two marshals not guilty, but they also had different goals also. Lawyer Jo wanted to be on a case that she could win very badly, because in her other 6 cases she had lost them. She also wanted to have people respect her for being a top time lawyer, but she felt like no one would give her another chance to prove she could win a case. Lawyer Kaffee was a man that wasn’t very good at law, but was assigned this case. He was always afraid of losing what he had, so throughout the play he would always try to play it safe in court and not ask to much. But at the end of the play it talks about how he stops being afraid. The other main character was Jessup. He was the army’s leader. The lawyers had to talk to him a lot to find out many questions about the night of the killing. At first the lawyers and Jessup seem to have a good relationship, but then once Jessup starts being questioned harder, he starts to get mean.
A minor character was Ross. He was Kaffee and Jo’s “side-kick”. He would always be with them and try to help them find out the truth of the murder case. He was an important character because he was very funny. He played as the comic character. In serious scenes he would lighten it up and make people laugh!
The play took place in modern day time. The time doesn’t really have much of an effect on the clothes or the setting. Most of the actors costumes were army uniform. That was the camouflage and the tall brown work boots. The lawyers had simple suit pants and work shirt. The setting was very simple. They had two fold out table and fold out chairs that were put on the opposite side of the stage from one another. One table on the right would represent the lawyer’s office and the lawyer’s side of the court room. The other table on the left side would be the Jessup’s office and Santiago’s lawyer’s side of the court. When they had the court room scene, they would bring out another table and put it at the center top of the stage with 3 chairs that stood for the questioner’s chair, and the 2 marshal’s chairs. The props were very simple. They didn’t have many props at all. But they did use old brief cases for the lawyers. They also had a gun, bottle of whiskey, files, work papers and gum ball jar. Other than that they didn’t have any props.
I would not recommend this play to many people. They acting in the play was very good. The actors all had very long and hard lines and I was very impressed on how they could remember all their lines. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend it was the plot line isn’t something you want to sit through for 2 hours and 30 minutes. But if you are in to law and big words, then this play would be good for you to go and whatch.

Bailey and I
The other weekend, I got to spend a night with my one of my best friends Bailey Smith! She is on my volleyball team! She is 13 years old, and is a right side hitter on my team!
When I went to her house, I instantly feel in love with it! It is the cutest house I have ever seen! It isn’t really big, but it isn’t small. It’s a yellow house with those big white porches and her house looks so colorful! It looks like a rainbow barfed in there! Anyways, I was greeted by her dog, Poco. Poco is suppose to be a full chiwawa, but he looks like a jack Russell terriers and a chiwawa mix! He is so cute! Poco ended up following us around all night!
So Bailey took me to her room, and it was super cute!!! We spent the first hour stalking people on facebook! That was really fun! WE commented and posted tons of things! When she looked at my profile, she made fun of a picture of me. Then we had a mean comment war. I won by saying “You’re a melted popsicles, on a sunny day, in the middle of a drive way that has bumps and crack on it!” She was very taken back by my awesomeness! Then we decided to take picture which we love to do! First we took pictures of our normal self then we decided to get crazy! We both have a hatred for cheerleaders, so we decided to put our hair up really high like they do! We looked super stupid, but it was really funny!! Bailey’s hair is wavy so it made her look extra preppy with her wavy high pony tail!
Then for dinner, Bailey’s parents took us to Outback (their favorite restraints!) Since it was a Friday night, it was pretty packed, so me and Bailey went to the Feeders Supply store next door. It was crazy fun! We went straight to go and look at the puppies! They were so cute! They were around 3 months old! Bailey and I spent forever playing with them! Then we went to go look at the fish! They weren’t nearly as cool as the puppies, but we did get a good laugh looking at the guppies with the eyes that are as big as their body! Bailey then wanted to go look at all the dog toys, so we went and took some really weird pictures of us with the toys!
After dinner me and Bailey got in our pajamas and went down into her basement. We had a hard time picking what movie we wanted. But then we finally decided to go on with Napoleon Dynamite! While watching the movie we played mini volleyball with a balloon. And just to point out, I have a phobia of balloons! It all started in 3rd grade when I went to a soccer camp. The coaches had us bounce the balloons on our head and legs for a exorcize, but because I was wearing a hard headband, the balloon keep popping on me head! The balloon popping on my head hurt and scared the pickle juice out of me! Bailey found out about my phobia and keep treating to pop the balloon. Even though I highly doubted that she would pop it, I still tried to stay away from the balloon.
The next day I was really sad I had to leave. I had such a fun time with bailey, but I knew I would see her the next day at practice, and the day after, and the day after that! So it wasn’t to hard to leave my Skittles! (Baileys nick name!)

Pine Mountain
Just recently I took a class trip to Pine Mountain. It was a very different trip from the many that I have taken. The week started off with a four hour bus ride to Eastern Kentucky, where Pine Mountain Settlement School is located. The bus ride was a ton of fun; I sat by three of my best friends Beverly Kings, Mackenzie Tatum- Johns, and Marra Burton! We had a really fun time playing lots of card games! The only boring part about the ride was when Mr. Whillimi has us learn our birds!
During my week at Pine Mountain I got to learn a ton of things! One of the first classes I had was coal class. The coal class was taught by Mr. Ben. Mr. Ben told us how coal was made, how it was removed from the mountain, and what it is used for. That part was MEGA boring, though it also might have been the fact that I had gotten no sleep the night before! After Mr. Ben talked to us, we got to go in cars and see some old mines. The car ride was really creepy because Mr. Ben’s car had lots of wasp in there! Nick and I were very, very scared! It was also annoying because Goldberg keep saying how cool he was for killing one wasp! But anyways, once we got out of the car we had to cross a creek to get to the old mine. The creek was really fun to go across, because it was cold and really high, and was funny to watch people get across! Then when we got to the old mine, Mr. Ben told us how they made room for the machines and tools. Then we got in the car again and went to see where the miners did Mountain Top Removal. It was kind of sad to see that where a beautiful mountain top should be, there is dead grass and nothingness.
The other classes were okay, but one of my favorite classes was the animal class! Valerie, our teacher, showed us tons of animals! First she showed us two toads! They were really cute with their big bulging eyes! Though I didn’t touch them because I was afraid they would bite me! Then Valerie showed us turtles!!!! I had been waiting for that moment because I LOVE turtles! (I can also relate to them with my wicked awesome turtle face!) She showed us the boxing and snapping turtles! THEY WERE SO CUTE! Then she showed us the snakes! That part was creepy, but because I knew my Avada Kedavra curse, I decided to be brave and touch the snake! It felt really weird!
The only scary part of the trip was my fall on the very top of Pine Mountain. You will hear my class mates say how they fell down, but none of them fell as bad as I did! At the top of Pine Mountain there is the SSS. That stands for Short, Sweet, and Steppe, but it is really; Long, Hard, and Steppe. So I was at the top coming back down, and I had only gone down two steps when I fell. It wasn’t one of those “Woops, I fell. I think I’ll get back up now” kind of fall. This was the “Holy Cow!” fall! I slid face first down the side of the trail! Luckily there was a rock I grabbed my foot on! I was grabbing it for dear life! But Mr. Rice and Mrs. Seely came to help me. They told me to lie still while they came and got me. The good part is I only feel 3 more times on the way down!
My all time favorite part of the trip was the Folk Dance! It was super funny to watch people dance to it! We did about 3 types of dances but my favorite was the last one! It was where there was a circle of boys, and on the outside was a circle of girls. A few girls had to play the part of a boy for there to be enough people. The “point” of the dance was that you would sing the songs with the partner in front of you. Then at one part in the song the boys would go to the right, and the girls to the left, and when the music stopped you had to dance with the person in front of you. If you didn’t have a partner you had to run to the middle to find one. But because there was an odd number of a boy, one boy would be left in the middle. The boy in the middle would have to start singing the song, and then everyone else would join in! Then the dance would repeat itself again!
Over all Pine Mountain was a fun experience, but I was very glad to get home!
Easter Turnament
This Easter weekend, I had another volleyball tournament! It was a 3 day one, so I was very tired after we finished this week!
It started on Friday, and I had to be at the gym at 7 o’clock, that meant waking up at 5:30 am! The good thing is I’m use to waking up that early! So when I got to the gym was very excited because we had to play 3 teams that day! Some of my team mates were still tired so the ones that were awake and I sang “Pretty Boy Swag” really loud, and all the other teams gave us weird looks; but the girls tat were tired woke up after that!
Our first team was a really easy team! We beat them really fast in 2 games. The team after that was a much harder team. We took them to 3 games, but won that match! By then my team was really up and moving, because the next team we got to play was MAVA 13 Blue! (Blue is the team ranked higher than us at our club, the number 2 team.) My team and I had played them once before, and took them to 3 games also. But we lost, but by only 2 points! So we were really ready to beat them this time. The first game was pretty close but we won that game by 5 points! On the 2nd game, my team just couldn’t seem to get a pass or set, so we lost that game. So then because they won one, and we won one, we had to go to a 3rd game. We started off slow, but then picked it up at the end, but it was to late and Blue beat us by 5 points. I was VERY mad. I wasn’t mad at my team, but mad at myself, because I felt like I could have done better.
But when the game was over, I had tons of parents come over to me and tell me how good I did. Also my dad said people keep coming up to him and complementing me. The best thing was, lots of the parents said I should have definitely made the Blue team! So at the end of the 1st day I was pretty mad and tired.
The 2nd day we had to wake up at the same time again! It was pretty hard to get going in our 1st game. That match had to go to 3 games, so it was a long game. Then after that we had to ref, and then we got to play again. We wanted to beat the other 2 teams, because if we did, we had a very good chance of playing Blue again. Both teams were much harder, we had to take both teams to 3 games, so it lasted a long time. After winning we were excited because we got to play Blue Sunday morning!
Turns out Sunday when we got to the gym, that we didn’t play Blue unless we beat the team that Blue was beaten by. That team was called Mawaki. Mawaki was a really good team. WE won the 1st, but then they won the 2nd, so we had to play another game. Sadly they won, so we didn’t get to play Blue. I was VERY mad when we lost to Mawaki. I knew we could of beat them, but we just had an off day.
Once again as I was leaving, my dad said that parents were coming over and telling him how good I was doing, and that I should of made Blue. The owner of MAVA came over to me and was telling me that I am doing great with my hitting and blocking! One of the parents even told my dad that I would have been a good choice of right side for Elite!!!! Those comments made me feel good!
Atlanta
A couple of weeks ago I went to Atlanta, Georgia for a volleyball tournament! It was the Big South Junoir Qualifiers! I had tons of fun there!
This was a 3 day tournament so I got to leave Thursday night to head up to Atlanta for the start on Friday! I was very happy with the hotel because all of the MAVA teams got to stay in the same hotel! It was fun to go in the lobby and talk to your other friends on the other team, and to gossip about the players! My room was really small, especially because I was sharing it with my mom and dad, but the beds were really cozy! Also my best friend on the team was in the room right beside me!
So, like very normal tournament morning, I wake up at 5:45 am. I do my teeth, hair, makeup, and get on my uniform and equipment! The team and I always meet down at the lobby of the hotel the day of the tournament so that we can all ride to the gym together. The gym was at the World Congress Center! I was very happy to play there because the name makes it sound even MORE cool! Our first day went really well! We beat every team that day, and they were some tough competition!
The next day was an okay day. We started the day in 5th gold, but ended up last in gold. We dropped down because we played our MAVA Elite team. They are the number one team and we are the number 3 team, so we weren’t expected to win. Now before I go on I must say that it was super unfair we had to play Elite. They are 13 year olds but play in tournaments with 16 year olds because they are so good! They haven’t lost to a 13 year old team in 2 years! THAT’S GOOD! So the first game was very close! They would get a point, then we would, then they would, then we would, and so on. The only flaw in Elite is that they seem to get mad and sad easy, so they started messing up more, the more we got in their head. But even when they are kind of mad, they still are creepy good! So we lost that game by 7 points! But that was good. Then on our 2nd game against them, we just couldn’t seem to get a pass. And everyone knows you need a pass to get a set. And you need a set to get a hit. And you need a hit to get a point. So we lost that game pretty bad, but at the end of the game one of the Elite players came over to talk to me. She is super good, but she came over and started telling me how good I did! She said she was SCHOCKED that I didn’t make Elite or Blue (the 2nd MAVA team). I thought she was super nice for doing that!
After that my team and I went across the road to the CNN building! There we eat our lunch. The building is so cool! I went there last year for a tour with Emma, but it’s still really cool to see it again! There were so many places to eat, so many offices, so many TVs, so many stores, and so many people! It was really crazy! There was no room to eat at a table, so me and some of my friends eat outside. That was really fun for 2 reasons. First of all there were two men dresses as a beaver and a squirrel! They were advertising the World Wrestling Champion Mach. WE got our picture taken with them! They were so soft! Second reason was that there were lots of pigeons outside! I love running after pigeons and scaring them! I tried to make the pigeon call, the realized I was making a Mourning Dove call! Mr. Whillimi would be so ashamed in me!
The next day was super long! We had to ref a team that had the most annoying coach ever! The first match was really close, but the coach still got mad at his players! It was the Tribe against the Wave. Tribe was the team with the mad coach! Wave was super nice and really good, and Tribe was really good but had weird players and a mean coach! On the 2nd game, the Tribe coach tried to get the other team to forfeit. The wave coach had put on the line up that the lebaro was #4, and that #4 was in the front row. (The lebaro is a passer and cannot play front row.) The Wave coach had meant to put #14 in the front row but the Tribe coach said that he could not change the line up and that the Wave team could earthier not have the lebaro play, or she had to take off her lebaro jersey and play as a normal player. So we had to have one of the professional refs come over and settle the whole thing out. That took about 30 minutes! WORST REFFING GAME EVER!
So at the end of the tournament we came in 21st out of 96 teams, so that isn’t bad at all!
St. Louis!!!!!
About a month ago I took an awesome trip to St. Louis! I went there for a volleyball tournament. At first the trip was really boring, because it was a 6 hour drive through endless roads with trees, trees, and more trees! Not only was it boring to look through the windows, but my phone and iPod was dying; so I had to listen to my parent’s choice of oldies music! So as you can imagine I was pretty happy when we got to the hotel!
We stayed at the Pear Tree, which was a really nice hotel right by the Union Station, the Convention Center, and the Arch! We got a big room so that the team could hang in my room during our breaks during the tournament! They had nice breakfasts in the morning that we would eat before the games.
Before you go on to read about my great vacation, you should know some back ground information on my team. We started off with 10 players at the beginning of the season, but our team was accident prone. Our lebaro (best passer on the team that is allowed to come in for any back row player without it being counted as a sub) is Bernie. Sadly, after our 2nd tournament she had serious back problems; and was not allowed to play for the rest of the season (6 months)!!!! So then we were down to only 9 players, but the numbers keep changing because people keep on getting sick and injured. Luckily every one but Bernie was allowed to play this tournament!
On the first day we won all of our games. Most of the teams we played were pretty easy, so it was fun to get to run some pikes, slides, ones, and get to switch around in positions! After celebrating our wins that day, we decided to go to the Union Station!
The Union Station used to be an old railroad station back in the 1900's, but is now full of stores and restronts. My favorite part, and almost anyone’s favorite part, was the Fugery. The Fugery is a place where they make awesome fuge!!! You get to seen every step of the fuge making! Not only do they just make fuge but they sing too! They sing songs bout fuge and interact with the people watching. My favorite singer that worked there was T-pain! (Well that what he said his name was.) He was super funny and was a wicked singer! So of cores everyone on my team including me bough some fuge!!!!
That night we had team bonding!!! First we did blind make up! We each had a partner and did their makeup blind folded! My partner was Olivia and she made my face look like a total wreck! But I made her face a mess too! Then we did blind hair styles! Olivia did mine really crazy, and it made tons of tangles in my hair! Then we had to dress our partner in toilet paper and try to make shoes, jersey, and knee pads out of it! It was so messy but fun!
On the 2nd day of our tunement we got to go into the gold bracket! We had to play the West Virginia Cherry Bombers to decide who won the 13 year old gold division. We were all pumped up, when our setter, Rayanne, seriously hurt her knee and could not play the championship match!!!! So we had to switch around our positions and had a girl named Brenna be our new setter. At first Brenna's was only having a little trouble, but she pulled it together and we won the 1st set by 10 points! The 2nd match however is a different story. Each set is played to 25, but you have to win by 2 points, so it can over 25. The other team started getting in their grove and played much better this set. The score would go 24-25, 25-25, 26-25, 26-26, and so on! So the score was 28-27 us, and after the ball was on our side we got a dig then Brenna set our newest player (Bailey who just started playing volleyball this year and was already really good for just starting) was set and she hit the ball and got us the winning point! We were all super happy because we go shinny gold metals!
After our win we wanted to go to one last place; that of curse was the Arch! The tickets were sold out so we didn't get to go up to the top (which honestly I was very happy because I am very afraid of heights) so we went under the arch to the museum! We didn’t really care to learn about the history so we just took pictures with the statues and dead animals! Also we carved our team name into the arch! We wrote "Mava 13 Red Trip to St. Louis 2010!" I felt like such a rebel writing on a fancy statue!
